SWIMMING WITH MR. HONU

Aloha! Well Jackie and I had a great little snorkel this morning. We went to Anini and the conditions were pretty good. It was a little choppy first thing out but actually improved as the morning went along. That is just the opposite of what normally happens! We ran into Mr. Honu at turtle rock...actually he was at a clump of coral about ten yards from there. He was very cooperative this morning. Maybe he was trying to make up for being so anti-social during Judy's visit or maybe he was just wanting to show off for the camera! Either way he sure made our snorkel exciting. He left his cubby hole under the edge of the coral to swim with us for a while. He was just cruising along at a very relaxed pace. It was almost like he was wanting to swim with us as much as we were wanting to swim with him! We were also able to get a pretty good clip of a boxfish. These guys are so square sided it almost looks like someone carved them out of a 2x4! The little threadfin is the same one that has been hanging around turtle rock. He is almost twice as big as he was a month ago. Wonder how much longer it will be until he leaves his little safe haven and ventures on out into the real world!
