COUCH POTATOES

Aloha! Well it's been beautiful over here today...low 80's with light trades. The kind of day that just makes you want to head outside and take in all of natures many wonders. You know the kind of day that would have kept us at the park all day when we were kids not coming home until dark or maybe not until Mom would come to find us! Well even though it was that kind of day here Jackie and I managed to spend it inside watching tv or napping. I will have to take full responsibility as I kept watching the hurricane coverage and football. Seems every time I would think about going outside and enjoying the beautiful weather I would find a reason to stay glued to my chair! The day wasn't a total loss though as we got two pieces of wonderful news. First, Jackie called her Mom and she said she had talked with Patsy and every one in Houston made it through the storm ok. They didn't even have any water or power issues at the moment so that was much better news than we were expecting! Looks like the relatives in Oklahoma and Missouri are going to be facing a whole lot of rain and stiff winds later today and into tomorrow so we will keep our prayers with them. The next bit of news is Mom and Dad are coming to Kauai!!!!! They will be coming 10/26 and staying untill 11/4. Our landlord Vasil said it was ok for them to stay here with us so we will be able to come and go when we want and not have to rush around in the mornings to meet them somewhere. Think that will make it a more relaxing visit. As we didn't get out to take any new pictures I went thru my older photos and picked out a few of some of our more unusual fish. They were all taken at Anini. The first two are of a stripebelly puffer. These are the largest puffers in Hawaii, growing to about 19 inches. The next two are of a flying gurnard. These guys are really neat! They have these huge winglike fins that they use to dig things out of the sand with and they will also blow the loose sand with their mouths looking for stuff to eat.

It's good to have a "couch potato" day once in a while. I have them myself
every so often. I'm glad that Glenn and Ann are coming to visit you. I can't wait until I can visit again.
Have a wonderful day in paradise,
Tommie
