Aloha from Kauai! Well Jackie and I have had another glorious day here in paradise! We had a nice soaking rain through out most of the night and awoke to rain this morning. Now I'm sure some of you are saying why are you so happy to awake to rain? Well for one thing we do need the rain as things tend to get a little dry here in August but more importantly its Sunday and thats race day. Because of the time difference the race starts here at about 8:00am

so if its raining I can stay in and watch the race. Now even if its beautiful outside I'm going to stay in and watch the race but if its raining I can do it and not feel guilty! The skies cleared about 11 and this afternoon is real nice, around 80. Jackie and I made it outside for a trip to Princeville. We had to pick up a few things from the store and believe you me if you shop in Princeville you only want to pick up a few items! Cory works at the grocery store in Princeville and he is always coming home with stories of how visitors will complain to him about things being priced so high. He always tries to be nice and explain to them that part of the reason things are so high is that Hawaii is the most isolated place on earth with a permanent population and every thing has to travel great distances to get here but I know there are times he wants to say "look you are here for what...maybe two weeks? So what if your milk cost you a dollar a gallon more than it does at home! You're in paradise

...chill out and don't let the price of a few groceries spoil you trip! I have to pay these prices everyday!" Of course his store in Princeville is one of the most expensive stores on Kauai and thats saying a lot. While we are waiting for Olympus to send us our new camera we have been having a ball going back and looking for photos to post on our blog. They all bring back such great memories. The first picture is of Jackie and our friend Denise in our little studio apartment. We had just got back from a full day of snorkeling and playing in the water. Believe Queens Bath was the last stop. Jackie and Denise were looking for things to go with our spagetti dinner. The next picture is of Natalie jumping into Queens Bath. If I remember right she and Chad were the only ones brave enough to jump! The next picture is of Jackie's former boss Mary and her two youngest daughters Lara and Jessie getting ready to snorkel for the first time at Lydgate Park. This might have been their first time snorkeling but not their first time in the water. These little girls took off like a couple of little fish! Know Jackie and I were sure impressed. The last picture is of Jackie enjoying lunch with Mary and her family at a picnic table in Hanalei. We had a real nice lunch...some of us ordered plate lunch at Pandas Kitchen which is just across the street and the rest ordered burgers from Bubbas. Surprisingly enough think we all got our meals at about the same time! Jackie had a nice phone visit with Mary the other day. She and Jose are in Honolulu getting Tommie settled in at UH. They had driven over to the north shore and had gotten a little snorkeling in at Turtle Bay. They were planning a few more outtings for this weekend but think a lot of next week was going to be taken up getting Tommie settled in. Wish it was where it we could spend some time in Honolulu with them but interisland airfare has gone through the roof now that they don't have Aloha Air to compete with! Well, Jackie has dinner ready and as much as I like to blog I like to eat more so will close for now.
