BABY THREADFIN

Aloha! Thought we would put this clip in for Brent and Ty. Brian told us earlier that they like to look at the fish! This clip was shot this morning at the clump of coral we have named turtle rock. Mr. Honu was out visiting friends but the other inhabitants were home. The small black fish with the white patch on their sides are called dascyllus. The babies have a blue bar across their nose and they can be really small. These fish like to swim around cauliflower coral and the way they circle the coral is reminiscent of the way moths will circle a street light. Thats why we like to call them volkswagens because of the little volkswagen bugs circling the street lights in the movie Cars! The 3 small striped fish are damselfish...believe these are hawaiian sergeants. The slightly larger fish that is hanging by the baby threadfin is called a bluestripe snapper. All of these fish are fairlly small with most being smaller than a 50 cent piece.
