Aloha! Well we are having are normal weather here in paradise...low 80's with light trades. As we finished our chores yesterday we were able to play today so it was off to Anini to snorkel. The water was a little choppy but it can't be perfect every time! We swam out to our spot by the buoy and we were rewarded with a glimpse of the longspine porcupinefish. He seems to be a little leary of us and refuses to hang around but we did manage to get a short clip of him anyway. On the way in we ran across a whitemouth moray. This one was huge! I would guess him to be 4 or 5 feet long with a head that was at least 6 or 8 inches thick! These guys are a little more flat than they are round and a lot scarier in person than they are on video. The current kept pushing us closer to him and it was real hard not to get closer than we wanted. I got within 3 or 4 feet of him a couple of times and had to stop filming and use my hands to maneuver away. He really was a lot more intimidating in person! We also ran into Mr. Honu at his usual spot and will post some more video of him along with the video of the porcupinefish in the future.
