CLOSE UP WITH MR. HONU

Aloha! Well Jackie and I have enjoyed another awesome day here on Kauai. We went to Anini snorkeling this morning and found the beach almost deserted. In the parking area where you would normally find 25 or 30 cars there were 3! September and October along with February, March and April are the slowest months for visitors but we have never seen it this slow here. The ocean is fairly angry at the moment with waves in the 8 to 10 foot range. At Anini you don't have to worry about the waves but you need to be aware of the currents. They can be a little strong and I guess they could wash you out thru the opening in the reef if you were really not paying any attention but you would need to have your head somewhere that smells really bad for that to happen! We shot some more video of a honu this morning. This one we would consider to be large. I tried to get a little different angle on this one. I wanted to show you more of its head and face. The honu was being very cooperative but I still found it hard to do. At least I got a nice close up of the back of its head!
