Aloha! Lots of activity on Kauai this weekend! Everything from fireworks to drag racing and of course the beaches were all very crowded or at least thats what the paper said. Jackie and I will have to take the papers word for it as we have spent our weekend here at the house with the one exception being a trip to Anini snorkeling Friday morning. We had a very interesting snorkel and came across a magnificent snake eel. Our book says these guys are rarely seen. This one was about 3 feet long and looked to be about as big around as my thumb. They are a lot more snake like than the other eels. We also swam over a very friendly honu and at one point he raised his flipper up like he wanted to give me a high five! Of course I was being a smartass and left him hanging...will need to apologize next time I see him! We also saw 2 gurnards along with the usual assortment of reef fish.`
